My scholarly work has focused on the New Testament as a collection of books: how its writings were composed, edited, arranged, copied, performed, and published. I have returned repeatedly to the formation of the Pauline letter collection, the emergence of a canonical edition of the New Testament, the evidence preserved in early manuscripts, and the ways layout, sequence, titles, and other editorial features shape interpretation. Related work has explored textual criticism, ancient book production, Marcion’s Gospelbook, the literary design of Acts, and the performance of New Testament texts.
